Technology

A laser blood-acquisition device.

Energy-based capillary access, not a steel lancet. Built on Er:YAG laser optics and designed for a shallow, point-of-care draw.

How it works

Energy based invasion, no sharps.

An energy pulse opens a micro-channel in the skin to access a capillary sample, designed for a shallow, lancet-free draw.

STEP 01

Energy pulse

A focused Er:YAG laser pulse is applied to the skin surface, with intensity set by the clinician.

STEP 02

Micro-channel

The pulse forms a micro-channel designed to reach approximately 0.25 mm, without a steel lancet.

STEP 03

Capillary sample

A capillary whole-blood sample surfaces for point-of-care measurement.

Illustrative, not to clinical scale. The ~0.25 mm penetration depth shown is a theoretical estimate from optical-ablation modeling, not a measured clinical result, and can vary with skin type, anatomical site, and use conditions. The 2.4 mm reference is the maximum recommended neonatal heel-puncture depth (Blumenfeld et al., Lancet 1979; WHO phlebotomy guidelines). Neonatal and pediatric use is under development and not yet cleared. Refer to the cleared instructions for use, or email contact@aponexlaserdx.com for more information.
